Author Aminah Mae Safi Returning as Guest Panelist for Book Fest 2022

Aminah Mae Safi, author of upcoming Travelers Along the Way and past Book Fest guest will participate in our Tales Retold panel session at Book Fest 2022!

Aminah Mae Safi is the author of four novels, including Tell Me How You Really Feel (Feiwel & Friends) and the forthcoming Travelers Along the Way: a Robin Hood Remix (Feiwel & Friends, 2022). She’s an erstwhile art historian, a fan of Cholula on popcorn, and an un-ironic lover of the Fast and the Furious franchise. Her writing has been featured on Bustle and Salon and her award-winning short stories can be found in Fresh Ink (Crown Books) and the forthcoming Freshman Orientation (Candlewick Press, 2023).

Our Tales Retold panel session will be held virtually on Tuesday, February 15 at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Book Fest 2022 Wrap Up

ICYMI, our week-long celebration of books and bookish-ness (AKA La Quinta Book Fest 2022) took place February 14-18. We hosted a panel session on retellings with four amazing authors, a book club with the book's author, and a writing workshop! Attendees also received a special Book Fest bag, free book, and were entered into a drawing to win SIGNED COPIES of our guest authors' books! We already have a few ideas for Book Fest 2023 and we'll start planning it soon! Yes, it does take a lot of time to plan something like this...but we love it! And we love that we can provide these types of events for our community. Poet and Author Jill Alexander Essbaum to Join La Quinta Book Fest 2022 Panel

Poet Jill Alexander Essbaum and author of  Hausfrau , will join our  Tales Retold  panel session at Book Fest 2022! Jill Alexander Essbaum is the author of several collections of poetry including Heaven (winner of the Katherine Bakeless Nason prize), Necropolis, Harlot, and most recently, Would-Land. Her first novel, Hausfrau, was a New York Times Bestseller and has been translated into 26 languages.  Her work has appeared in dozens of journals including Poetry, The Christian Century, Image,  and The Rumpus, and has been included in textbooks and anthologies including The Best American Erotic Poems and two editions of the annual Best American Poetry anthology.
