'Unbury Carol' Author Josh Malerman to Join La Quinta Book Fest 2022

 

Author Josh Malerman will join our Book Fest 2022 Book Club on Thursday, February 17! We'll be reading and discussing his book Unbury Carol.

The perfect choice for our Tales Retold theme, Unbury Carol is a haunting tale of a woman literally bringing herself back from the dead. It's a twisted take on the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale that will stay with you long after you’ve turned the final page.

About Josh:

Josh Malerman is a New York Times bestselling author and one of two singer/songwriters for the rock band The High Strung, whose song "The Luck You Got" can be heard as the theme song to the Showtime show "Shameless." His debut novel, Bird Box, is the inspiration for the hit Netflix film of the same name. Bird Box was also nominated for the Stoker Award, the Shirley Jackson Award, and the James Herbert Award. His books Black Mad Wheel and Goblin have also been nominated for Stoker Awards. His other novels include Unbury Carol, Inspection, A House at the Bottom of a Lake, Pearl and Malorie, the sequel to Bird Box.

Our Book Fest Book Club will be held virtually on Thursday, February 17 at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom. 
This event is free, but registration is required.

ICYMI, our week-long celebration of books and bookish-ness (AKA La Quinta Book Fest 2022) took place February 14-18. We hosted a panel session on retellings with four amazing authors, a book club with the book's author, and a writing workshop! Attendees also received a special Book Fest bag, free book, and were entered into a drawing to win SIGNED COPIES of our guest authors' books! We already have a few ideas for Book Fest 2023 and we'll start planning it soon! Yes, it does take a lot of time to plan something like this...but we love it! Poet and Author Jill Alexander Essbaum to Join La Quinta Book Fest 2022 Panel

Poet Jill Alexander Essbaum and author of  Hausfrau , will join our  Tales Retold  panel session at Book Fest 2022! Jill Alexander Essbaum is the author of several collections of poetry including Heaven (winner of the Katherine Bakeless Nason prize), Necropolis, Harlot, and most recently, Would-Land. Her first novel, Hausfrau, was a New York Times Bestseller and has been translated into 26 languages.  Her work has appeared in dozens of journals including Poetry, The Christian Century, Image,  and The Rumpus, and has been included in textbooks and anthologies including The Best American Erotic Poems and two editions of the annual Best American Poetry anthology.
