Katee Robert is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance and romantic suspense. Entertainment Weekly calls her writing “unspeakably hot.” Her books have sold over a million copies. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, children, a cat who thinks he’s a dog, and two Great Danes who think they’re lap dogs. Her newest book is Electric Idol.

Josh Malerman

Josh Malerman is a New York Times bestselling author and one of two singer/songwriters for the rock band The High Strung. His debut novel, Bird Box, is the inspiration for the hit Netflix film of the same name. His other novels include Unbury Carol, Inspection, A House at the Bottom of a Lake, Pearl and Malorie, the sequel to Bird Box. Read more about Josh in our Announcement post.
Josh will join our Book Club on Thursday, February 17, where we'll be discussing his book Unbury Carol.

Jill Alexander Essbaum

Jill Alexander Essbaum is the author of several collections of poetry including Heaven (winner of the Katherine Bakeless Nason prize), Necropolis, Harlot, and most recently, Would-Land. Her first novel, Hausfrau, was a New York Times Bestseller and has been translated into 26 languages. Read more about Jill on our Announcement post.

Michelle Ruiz Keil

Michelle Ruiz Keil is the author of the critically acclaimed young adult novels Summer In The City of Roses and All of Us With Wings. Aminah Mae Safi

Aminah Mae Safi is a past Book Fest guest and the author of four novels, including Tell Me How You Really Feel (Feiwel & Friends) and the forthcoming Travelers Along the Way: a Robin Hood Remix (Feiwel & Friends, 2022). Her writing has been featured on Bustle and Salon and her award-winning short stories can be found in Fresh Ink (Crown Books) and the forthcoming Freshman Orientation (Candlewick Press, 2023).     Would love to see some more mature authors included in your panels. Older authors have a great deal to add to the mix.

Book Fest 2022 Wrap Up

ICYMI, our week-long celebration of books and bookish-ness (AKA La Quinta Book Fest 2022) took place February 14-18. We hosted a panel session on retellings with four amazing authors, a book club with the book's author, and a writing workshop! Attendees also received a special Book Fest bag, free book, and were entered into a drawing to win SIGNED COPIES of our guest authors' books! We already have a few ideas for Book Fest 2023 and we'll start planning it soon! Yes, it does take a lot of time to plan something like this...but we love it! And we love that we can provide these types of events for our community. Poet Jill Alexander Essbaum and author of  Hausfrau , will join our  Tales Retold  panel session at Book Fest 2022! Jill Alexander Essbaum is the author of several collections of poetry including Heaven (winner of the Katherine Bakeless Nason prize), Necropolis, Harlot, and most recently, Would-Land. Her first novel, Hausfrau, was a New York Times Bestseller and has been translated into 26 languages.  Her work has appeared in dozens of journals including Poetry, The Christian Century, Image,  and The Rumpus, and has been included in textbooks and anthologies including The Best American Erotic Poems and two editions of the annual Best American Poetry anthology.
