Book Fest 2022 Wrap Up

ICYMI, our week-long celebration of books and bookish-ness (AKA La Quinta Book Fest 2022) took place February 14-18.

We hosted a panel session on retellings with four amazing authors, a book club with the book's author, and a writing workshop! Attendees also received a special Book Fest bag, free book, and were entered into a drawing to win SIGNED COPIES of our guest authors' books!

We already have a few ideas for Book Fest 2023 and we'll start planning it soon! Yes, it does take a lot of time to plan something like this...but we love it! And we love that we can provide these types of events for our community.

A special and huge thank you to our guest authors-- Katee Robert, Josh Malerman, Michelle Ruiz Keil, Jill Alexander Essbaum, and Aminah Mae Safi-- for joining us to talk about their books, writing process, inspirations, and more!

Here's what some of our patrons had to say about Book Fest 2022:
"I loved Book Fest and the theme of retellings that tied everything together. I liked that it piqued my interest to read books in new genres (Western/Horror). I also feel more attached to the Book Fest authors and would like to read more from them."

"It was the first time I’ve ever been to a convention and seeing the authors discuss with each other was fascinating."

"I enjoyed having a small intimate group of us talking directly and answering questions, getting a deeper sense of the background of each book."

"[I enjoyed] hearing the author’s insight about the book and getting my question answered. It was cool to hear from other people who were passionate about the book, too."
If you haven't had a chance to read their books, select the links below to place a request from the library (make sure to have your library card handy):
Travelers Along the Way by Aminah Mae Safi (Note: Release date: March 1, 2022)
Hausfrau by Jill Alexander Essbaum
Summer in the City of Roses by Michelle Ruiz Keil
Neon Gods by Katee Robert
Unbury Carol by Josh Malerman

If you were unable to attend, or didn't know about this event, sign up for our library's email newsletter so you can stay up-to-date on what's happening over here. If you did attend, please fill out our post-Book Fest survey!

Our next event for adults will be a plant swap on Saturday, March 19. Drop by to meet fellow plant enthusiasts and take home a new plant! Bring a healthy, pest-free plant, rooted cuttings in water, or seeds to trade. (Please only bring pots that you're willing to part with!)

The Riverside County Master Gardeners will be here to answer your questions and to give little demo on the care of houseplants.

You’ll also have a chance to win cuttings from Hermivy, our Library Pothos plant! We’ll meet on the patio.

Happy Reading!
Natalie, Program Coordinator
