One week til LQ Book Fest!


Hi everyone!

I can't believe we are one week away from hosting our first La Quinta Book Fest. I am so excited to welcome the 10 authors that are coming. I've been trying to read at least one of all their books before they get here and I have one more to go!

So why did we come up with LQ Book Fest? A lot of you have asked and wanted to see authors here at the library so we thought hosting a mini-sort-of book festival would be a great way to do just that. We reached out to some SoCal authors and 10 of them said yes! We're excited to host and introduce you to a diverse panel of authors who have written some really great books, many of which we have in the library for you to check out. The ones I've read so far by each of the authors, I have absolutely loved and cannot wait to read more of their work!

The authors and some of your local librarians will be speaking on the various panels and we hope you'll join us for these fun and interesting conversations. LQ Book Fest is totally free to attend as are the panels! We do ask that you register for the panels by either stopping by or calling us at 760.564.4767. Those who register will be seated first! 

 We'd love for you all to join us and enjoy the discussions and stick around to meet the authors during the book signing! Cellar Door Books, a lovely bookstore from Riverside, will be selling copies of the authors' books throughout the day. You can bet I will be buying one of each so I can get them signed!

Poet and Author Jill Alexander Essbaum to Join La Quinta Book Fest 2022 Panel

Poet Jill Alexander Essbaum and author of  Hausfrau , will join our  Tales Retold  panel session at Book Fest 2022! Jill Alexander Essbaum is the author of several collections of poetry including Heaven (winner of the Katherine Bakeless Nason prize), Necropolis, Harlot, and most recently, Would-Land. Her first novel, Hausfrau, was a New York Times Bestseller and has been translated into 26 languages.  Her work has appeared in dozens of journals including Poetry, The Christian Century, Image,  and The Rumpus, and has been included in textbooks and anthologies including The Best American Erotic Poems and two editions of the annual Best American Poetry anthology. Author Michelle Ruiz Keil to Be Guest Panelist at La Quinta Book Fest 2022

Michelle Ruiz Keil, author of Summer in the City of Roses , will be participating in our  Tales Retold  panel session at Book Fest 2022! We can't wait! Michelle Ruiz Keil is the author of the critically acclaimed young adult novels Summer In The City of Roses and All of Us With Wings . Her writing for adults can be found most recently in Bitch Magazine, Cosmonauts Avenue, and The Buckman Journal. She is a 2021 Tin House Scholar and the recipient of residencies at Hedgebrook and The Sitka Center and the Bloedel Reserve.
