Book Fest 2020 Update: Announcing Sean R. Corbin!

We are excited to announce Sean R. Corbin a La Quinta Book Fest 2020 guest panelist!

Sean R. Corbin is the Teen Librarian at the Palm Springs Public Library. Originally from Twentynine Palms, Sean moved down to the valley in 2003. He found his career on accident, when he took his first library job in 2005, initially looking for a way out of waiting tables; since then he has worked at both public and academic libraries, and has developed a passion for helping patrons.

A graduate of Cal State, San Bernardino (BA, English), Sean is currently pursuing his Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree at San José State University. As a Teen Librarian, he is driven to provide engaging and entertaining programs, as well as provide opportunities for teens to give back to their community.

Favorite book: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Favorite album: Computer World by Kraftwerk
Hobbies: Hiking, camping, writing, photography

Sean will be a panelist in our "So You Think You Know About Libraries?" panel at Book Fest 2020 on Saturday, February 1, 2020!

Book Fest 2022 Wrap Up

ICYMI, our week-long celebration of books and bookish-ness (AKA La Quinta Book Fest 2022) took place February 14-18. We hosted a panel session on retellings with four amazing authors, a book club with the book's author, and a writing workshop! Attendees also received a special Book Fest bag, free book, and were entered into a drawing to win SIGNED COPIES of our guest authors' books! We already have a few ideas for Book Fest 2023 and we'll start planning it soon! Yes, it does take a lot of time to plan something like this...but we love it! And we love that we can provide these types of events for our community. Poet and Author Jill Alexander Essbaum to Join La Quinta Book Fest 2022 Panel

Poet Jill Alexander Essbaum and author of  Hausfrau , will join our  Tales Retold  panel session at Book Fest 2022! Jill Alexander Essbaum is the author of several collections of poetry including Heaven (winner of the Katherine Bakeless Nason prize), Necropolis, Harlot, and most recently, Would-Land. Her first novel, Hausfrau, was a New York Times Bestseller and has been translated into 26 languages.  Her work has appeared in dozens of journals including Poetry, The Christian Century, Image,  and The Rumpus, and has been included in textbooks and anthologies including The Best American Erotic Poems and two editions of the annual Best American Poetry anthology.
